During the 5th sitting of the 3rd meeting of the 5th session of the 11th Parliament of Uganda held on April 1, 2026, the Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development presented several tax bills for their first reading. The Minister officially moved a motion for the Excise Duty Amendment Bill 2026 to be read for the first time, confirming that the bill was accompanied by the required certificate of financial implications. Following the presentation, the Speaker of Parliament referred the bill to the sector committee of Finance, Planning and Economic Development for further consideration, with a directive to report back to the House on April 21, 2026
